The Dragonfly Foundation was founded in Cincinnati in 2010 with a mission to bring strength, comfort and joy to pediatric cancer patients and their families. Over the years, we have built strong partnerships with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and the local community to provide critical support during the most challenging times.
We fulfill essential day-to-day needs brought to our attention by front-line staff, such as gas and grocery cards, household essentials, and toys. We create a sense of community by offering families special outings, holiday events, and unique experiences to provide a break from the realities of treatment. Our hospital programs also help clinical teams deliver compassionate, developmentally appropriate care, including our care bags and other resources.
Since our founding, we have supported thousands of families, providing them with strength, courage, and joy when they need it most. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we continue to grow and expand our impact. The demand for our services is ever-increasing, and we remain committed to making a lasting difference in the lives of pediatric cancer patients and their families.
We were founded in 2010 by Christine Neitzke when her ten-year-old son Matt was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Fortunately, Christine, Jim, Matt, and Sam, who was 12 at the time, had the support of family, friends, and the community. Many other inpatient families were not as fortunate. Stunned by the lack of support many of their peer families fighting cancer had, Christine was moved to create The Dragonfly Foundation with the intention of providing anything a pediatric cancer family needs and placing the family’s well-being at the center of all it does.
Today, Matt is Cancer Free.
